Week 6 Critique - DOJ Task Force Report

This week I am critiquing DOJ Task Force on 21st Century Policing. The digital evaluation traits I will be assessing are:

Story – The story structure was engaging and fairly fast paced. There was not a central character except the narrator. The story was told with video and stills, interviews and narration. There was a transformation of the topic. It started with a problem; street protests against controversial police shootings. The middle contained a possible solution and the rationale behind the problem. It ended with a community call to action to support implementation of the proposed solution. This flow supported transformation of the topic from problem to solution. The video is five minutes long. An improvement would be to cut the time by ideally one minute, thirty seconds and keep the story and topic transformation in tact.

Project Planning – There was evidence of solid project planning. The narrator had a concise, clear script indicating detailed scripting. The original video, pictures, interviews, audio, and editing flowed well, indicating a project plan. An improvement would be to plan the lighting and backdrop better.

Originality, voice, and creativity – This digital story was told in a very creative manner. DOJ Task Force recommendations could be a dry topic. The narrator had an original sense of voice commentating in a somewhat objective manner. The artifacts demonstrated the originality and creativity in this story.
