I believe in the innate brilliance in everyone.  It is my mission to help you own, develop, and use your gifts to live the life you want.

Founder, Learning Path, LLC

Do you remember the best training you’ve ever had? Do you remember the worst? If you are like most adult learners you want learning to be engaging, self-directed, fun, and problem-centered. If learning is not relevant, why bother?

As the founder of Learning Path I know what makes great training. Some of my clients call me the course whisperer.  Training and Development Consulting, Facilitation, Instructional Design, and Customized Learning is what I am really good at.

eLearning, mLearning, Micro-Learning, webinars, instructor-led, social learning, self-directed learning paths. I can help your organizations choose, design, develop, and deliver learning the way your learner wants their learning.

I work with a team of professionals who value your time and deliver across learning platforms, learning styles, topics, and diversity of perspective.

We have been in business since 2005. Learning Path was founded upon the belief that life is a learning path and lifelong learning is a necessity. In the age of disruption; agility and creativity rule.  We are your partners to help you successfully slay learning challenges and see the ROI in your people investment.

Some of the companies I have developed training or consulted with regarding learning strategy include Chick-fil-A, The Home Depot, Coca-Cola, Cox Communications, Georgia Pacific, EarthLink, HD Supply, and the Federal Government.

My Life and Learning Philosophy

I live to learn and help others navigate the intricacies of leadership and life.  After raising two sons and working in Corporate as a Training University Manager, Master Trainer, Instructional Designer, ISD Project Manager, Coach, and life long learner in Fortune 50's for 20+ years I opened my own company, Learning Path.  I named my Company Learning Path because learning and organizational development is a constantly evolving process and personal.  Each person's learning path is different. I've found that my agility on my life-long journey is fueled by continuos learning. Who knew that the more we evolve, the more there is to evolve to!  Like a plant I feel we are either growing or dying.  I choose learning and growing, and I hope you will choose learning and growth with me .  My passion; helping to develop confident, successful, learners and leaders.

I've experienced many opportunities on my Learning Path. Some I was ready for, and some I was not. Through my incredible journey I have learned that my ability to connect, develop, and nurture relationships is my biggest strength.  For me, this is where my strength as a coach and as a facilitator shines.  On Strengthsfinder my Relator and Positivity strengths naturally draw people to me and me to them.  My connection and appreciation for diverse voices has also helped me value serving others. My Leadership philosophy is one of relationship and service first.  Someone is always observing you.  Your children, your employees, your social group.  We are always leading, intentionally or unintentionally.

As a leader and as an individual contributor I've learned people follow and support leaders they trust. I wanted to know who I was following, and as a leader my people wanted to know who I was.  Our natural tendency to be self-protective can thwart our influence and effectiveness as a leader. Transparency, self-awareness, and social awareness grows with practice.  I've found these emotional intelligence competencies can be taught.  However, this growth from the inside out takes courage and practice. It also requires willingness and the ability to notice, process, and sit with our feelings. Feelings our first inclination might be to change.  I am in charge of my own growth and you are in charge of your growth.  We choose to be courageous, inquisitive, and consistent, or not.  I also realized the gift of feedback is truly a gift. Great leaders, parents, spouses, friends ask "How am I doing? How can I be better?"

As I was doing the internal work to increase my own self-acceptance and self-awareness the Achiever and Learner in me decided to go back to college for a B.S. in communication.  Communication is really about the receiver. How did the receiver decode the message? Like leadership, your competence is determined by others. Going back to school as an adult learner..... all I'll say is my classmates where digital natives, had great ideals, and carried their books on their backs.  I had experience, context, focus, lots of questions, and pulled a rollerbag. Always on the learning path of life, I then pursued a Master's in eLearning design and implementation from The University of Colorado, Denver. I graduated spring 2017.  Go Buffalo's! I am so excited about the learning tools we have today! Developing e-learning and connecting with learners and clients virtually has opened up possibilities and scaleability I didn't even dream possible when I first entered the training and development world. No matter the tools we employ, how adults learn has not really changed. People what to participate and have control over their learning and the learning must be valuable.

I believe life is a learning path.  When we learn the path leads to purpose and peace.  When we don't we get detoured and have to find our way back.  We all detour.  Those times are often rich in the learnings we could have only received in that experience.

I'm currently writing my first book Divine Detours, One Woman's Journey to Power and Purpose.

My Philosophy

Believe, Begin, Become, Yes You Can!

I believe the more open you are to grow the more opportunities Universe will present you to grow. Be careful what you ask for. Many of my growth catalysts were birthed through some type of discomfort.  Rarely did I innovate, reinvent myself, or learn great life lessons in my comfort zone.  Mental, physical, and/or spiritual discomfort has often been the door to greater relationships, freedoms and achievements.

That feeling in the pit of your stomach doesn't have to be the catalyst. However, when it is present pay attention.  It is the beginning

Be curious. What are you feeling? What do you need to learn in this discomfort? What are you holding on to that you need to let go? What story are you making up in this moment? Is that true?

Rarely, does anything outside of mindfulness and letting go of expectations of how you think something is "supposed" to be, work. All of our fears are in the future. Lean in to this present moment with faith that all is well and all will be well. Your discomfort is just a vehicle to move you purposefully forward into becoming who you choose to be in the world.

Now the fun stuff

I once took a trip to Bangkok and Phuket with myself.  My friends said "you're going way over there by yourself!?"  I said "There will be people there when I get there."

An eternal optimist and entrepreneur I believe in trying new things, laughing until your face hurts, communing with nature, and making new friends.

I volunteer at 9to5, the National Association of Working Women, Hope for Women, and The Cobb Coalition of Public Safety non-profit organization.

A recovering foodie, I am newly vegan or should I say “pescatarian” as I have eaten fish about 8 times in the last 6 months.  Yes, I saw What the Health.  Thank God I can cook!

Testimonials

"I have taught Ms. Newton news reporting and writing during the fall 2012 semester, and can say without hesitation that she is easily one of the brightest and most hardworking students I have ever had the pleasure to teach in my over one decade experience teaching college. And I do not say this lightly. I am saying this from the vantage point of someone whose pedagogical, scholarly, and social experiences span two continents. She is a self-motivated, intelligent, thoughtful, diligent, and resourceful person who will bring tremendous value and vitality to your organization."
